Armstrong in Gloom

Armstrong in Gloom is the chamber’s Halloween decorating contest. Homes and businesses across Armstrong and Spallumcheen dress up with their most creative, spooky, and over-the-top displays. Some yards even build walk-through paths. The name is a wink at Armstrong’s Communities in Bloom pride: flowers in summer, frights in fall.

Every year the chamber publishes the list of decorated homes and buildings on this website. Walk or drive the route, admire the displays, and tap any address to open it in your phone’s navigation. Each year’s list stays online at its own page, so the current list is always easy to find.

How to enter

Give the chamber your address to be on the list. Any home, business, or other building in town can enter. By entering, your address is published online and in print so people can come admire your display. To register, email manager@aschamber.com or call (250) 546-8155.

Judging and prizes

Registration closes in late October. Judging runs on two evenings near Halloween, so keep your display glowing from dusk to 10 pm on judging nights. Winners are chosen in residential and business categories, with prizes from local sponsors.

Decorated for Halloween? Hand out candy too: the Halloween Trick or Treat Trail runs downtown on October 31. And for fall displays without the frights, enter Scarecrows on the Street.
