TOWNSHIP OF
SPALLUMCHEEN

TOWNSHIP OF SPALLUMCHEEN

A prospering crop in Armstrong, BC.
A leaning heritage building on a farm in Spallumcheen, BC.

Set in the beautiful Spallumcheen Valley, the Township of Spallumcheen is a combination of farming, industrial and residential opportunities. The wide valley bottom is edged with evergreen slopes and boasts all forms of intensive and family agricultural operations. Supported by a vibrant industrial park, residents and visitors experience the oldest and largest municipality in the southern Interior of British Columbia and see, why, in the Township’s Spallumcheen, Farming Comes First.

The Township of Spallumcheen supports the development of light industrial operations and values our historically large agricultural land base with an extensive farming compliment. Benefits to investors include being situated along a major north/south corridor; located halfway between Calgary and Vancouver; and found only three (3) hours away from the United States (US) border.

The District Municipality of Spallumcheen was incorporated on July 21st, 1892 and boasts a large rural land base of 26,892 hectares. A majority of our precious land is located in the Agricultural Land Reserve protected for its great soil for rearing many types of crops and further assisting with farming and all that it implies. Let it be further noted that Spallumcheen is one of the last ‘Township’s’ in the great province of British Columbia.

The Township of Spallumcheen rolling valley contains approximately two hundred (200) kilometers of roads that are a mixture of asphalt, chip seal and gravel. Many admire the atmosphere when out enjoying the scenic beauty of down home country life.

The 2011 census resulted in an increase in the Municipality bringing the current population to five thousand and fifty five (5,055). For more information relating to the Township’s population please access the Statistics Canada website.
