Scarecrows on the Street

Scarecrows on the Street is Armstrong’s fall scarecrow contest and a chamber business-growth initiative.

Businesses and homes build scarecrows and put them on display through the fall. The chamber publishes the map, promotes the displays, and invites residents and visitors to tour town, vote, donate to the food bank, and discover local businesses along the way.

How it supports business growth

Scarecrows on the Street helps local businesses create a visible reason for people to walk, drive, shop, and explore.

How voting works

Voting details may change by year. In past years, visitors voted by donating non-perishable food items, and the winner was decided by the weight of food collected. All donations supported the food bank.

Check the current year’s page for current dates, map details, and voting instructions.

How to enter

Any business or home in town can enter. Dress at least one handmade scarecrow with a harvest theme and place it on display. After judging ends, displays can be updated with Halloween props.
