Harvest Pumpkin Festival

The Harvest Pumpkin Festival is a fall festival in Armstrong, run by the chamber since 2000. The festival spans about 10 days in October each year, with Family Day on a Saturday at the Armstrong Fairgrounds.

The festival celebrates arts, culture, family, and community at harvest time. Local sponsors and volunteers carry the event each year.

Great Pumpkin Weigh-In

The festival’s signature contest is the giant pumpkin weigh-in. Adults and youth aged 12 and under compete in separate categories, with cash prizes for the biggest pumpkin in each. Recent records have topped 1,400 pounds.

Family Day

Family Day takes place on a Saturday at the Armstrong Fairgrounds. The day typically includes the pumpkin weigh-in, the pumpkin launch, free workshops, artisan demos, food trucks, and family activities. The lineup varies each year.

Scarecrows on the Street

Decorated scarecrows line downtown Armstrong through the fall. Businesses and homes dress a scarecrow, and visitors vote with food bank donations. Scarecrows on the Street has its own page with each year’s map.

Free workshops

The festival hosts free workshops across its 10 days each year. Spots are limited and pre-registration through the chamber is required. Past workshops have included drumming, macramé, and other hands-on activities. Each year’s lineup varies.
