MEMORIAL PARK

Armstrong Memorial Park’s age friendly outdoor exercise equipment is available for all and the Armstrong’s Age Friendly Community Advisory Committee hopes people use it.

The equipment has been set up at Memorial Park in a partnership between the committee and Armstrong Spallumcheen Parks and Recreation.

“It’s really easy to use,” said age friendly committee chairperson Peter Rotzetter.

Funded in part by the federal government’s New Horizons For Seniors Program, the eight stages of equipment are for use for people 14 and over who are a minimum five-feet tall and weigh a minimum 100 pounds.

The equipment includes a combo press and pull, sit-up bench, two-person rotator, rowing machine, multi-gym, pull-up and dip station, air walker plus and multi bars to perform a variety of stretching exercises.

People can use the equipment at their own risk. If you’d like personal assistance to learn the full use of the equipment, contact parks and recreation in the Nor-Val Sports Centre to be paired with a volunteer mentor.
