Understanding the Risk: The manager will monitor updates from the provincial health officer and forward pertinent information to the staff via email and/or verbally.
Ongoing Measures to Reduce the Risk of Transmission: If a staff member has symptoms of a communicable disease, they will contact the manager and stay home until the symptoms are gone. Symptoms may include: fever, chills, nausea If the staff member is able and willing to work from home, steps will be made to accommodate this situation. Proper handwashing techniques will be posted in the washroom. Hand sanitizer will be available to staff. A poster for the proper way to cough and sneeze will be posted in the washroom. A cleaner comes in once a week to do a thorough cleaning of the office and washrooms. The proper cleaning supplies are stored on site for that purpose. Additional cleaning is done as necessary. Hvac is in good condition. The heating and cooling system is serviced as required. Doors can be opened for increased ventilation if required. Filters will be changed as necessary, at least twice per year. Our physical barrier remains in place above our counter to help prevent the spread of communicable diseases.
Communicating Practices and Policies to staff and visitors: Posters will be in the washroom re: handwashing and sneezing/coughing techniques Policy for workers will be posted in our office manual. The new policy will be emailed to staff.
Monitoring the workplace and updating the plan as necessary: As our office is small with limited staff, if there are any health and safety concerns, we would speak directly to our manager to voice our concerns. She is in the office daily and is accessible by phone, email and in person.
